At a time of intense political unrest in Europe, the Communist Party Manifesto of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, published in 1848, was both a strong critique of capitalism and a radical call to arms.
 
It remains the most intelligent introduction to the ideas of communism and the most lucid analysis of its aims. Much of what he proposed is still at the heart of political debate even in the 21st century.
It is no surprise, then, that the Communist Manifesto (as it was later renamed) is the second best-selling book of all time, after the Bible.
Martin Rawson, a Guardian newspaper comic, uses his talent and wit to adapt the Communist Manifesto into this comic.

The result is an excellent book that recalls the politics of hope, introducing the reader to the political theory of communism.
